This jacket is made from a lovingly hand-stitched quilt, slowly made over several months, which we have carefully repurposed into a timeless, cosy, snug jacket. Suitably named 'The Forever Jacket' as this will last you a lifetime, and can be passed on to many generations to treasure.
Please note it has a grey stain / patch on the front and reflected in price.
It features a relaxed boxy style with dropped shoulders, long sleeves that can be rolled to your desired length, deep pockets AND is fully reversible - oh yes we have hidden the labels in the pockets so you can fully immerse yourself with 2 jackets in 1. It is not unusual for the reverse side to show more signs of its age over the years, as we can't always prevent the placement of its reverse side.
It comes with a matching belt if you want to really snuggle down. It also has an oversized fit so its the perfect jacket for layering jumpers underneath.
FREE size - chest is approx 50"/52" pit to pit, length 21"
We have used vintage textiles that are over 50 years old. These have been hand stitched far and wide by village communities in West Bengal, and have been ethically and sustainably sourced. We are supporting important livelihoods across rural regions.
Kantha: is the term used to describe the typical 'running stitch' needlework. This work is done by hand, mostly by women, over long periods. Our kantha embroidery features multiple layers of old fabric stitched together in its purpose to provide quilting and warmth. The thickness of each jacket depends on the amount of layers used, so each jacket can vary.
Jacket depth: light - medium
100% cotton. Due to its needlework, cold hand wash is recommended, though it may be washed on a delicate machine wash setting, in a cool temperature (under 30 and low spin).
